"If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader."
--John Quincy Adams
FBA prides itself on being an organization that exemplifies dedicated, responsible, and passionate leadership. The FBA Leadership Committee includes the President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, Creative Director, Community Relations Director, and Executive Director. The Leadership Committee is responsible for formulating organization’s overall policy and direction.
Jenny Ruiz – President
I am a graduate of FIU with a Bachelor of arts in English, currently on the path towards dedicating my career in helping to create and manage socially conscious events and community outreach programs. Working full-time while completing my University studies provided me the opportunity to gain both knowledge and professional experiences in varying workplaces. The most important skills I’ve acquired up to date include: Patience, Persistence & Communications. FBA has provided me with the opportunity to work with local youth and grow as they grow as well.
Stephanie Guerra – Vice President
In May of last year, I graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics. I am a culture enthusiast and a lover of languages. My involvement in FBA has afforded me opportunities to experience the world in a way few young adults have the courage or resources to do. At just 22, with one friend and a backpack (a very heavy backpack), I walked, rode trains, walked, flew in planes, walked, took metros, walked, had locals drive us around, and walked through four European countries! With a willingness and open mind to learn from others and offer whatever knowledge I can, I hope to serve FBA as Vice President well before pursuing a Ph. D in Phonetics.
Jeremie McLeod – Creative Director
Jeremie is currently studying video production at Miami-Dade College and is working for the Discovery Channel as a videographer. “I have edited many projects that stem from instructional videos to music videos. I take pride in being efficient, creative, and a precise editor. Learning new techniques in order to become a better editor. I enjoy the art of editing because it allows me to create something from scratch.”
Ana Morales – Secretary
Yaniré Chow is currently a senior at Florida International University, getting her Bachelors of Science in Information Technology; and is working at The Biltmore Hotel as an IT Engineer. While she is not working or studying, she loves to volunteer her time in projects that make a difference. Yaniré has volunteered as a basketball coach for children from the ages of 8 – 13, not only teaching them skills to use on the court, but life skills that they can use off the court as well. She is aware of how important it is for the youth to have people in their lives that are role-models and mentors, which is why she strongly believes in what FBA does and stands for.
Anthony Reid – Executive Director and Founder
Anthony Reid is a native-born South Floridian and graduate of Florida International University, School of International Relations and Education. Before going into teaching he had numerous opportunities working with and teaching young people both here and abroad. In 1997 he was fortunate to become part of the Paul W. Bell Middle School team where he has earned my National Board Certification and teach social studies to a diverse group of 6th, 7th, and 8th graders.
